The station at South Paris was built in 1883 by The Grand Trunk Railroad for the line that was to link Portland to Montreal. On October 8th, 1849 a regular operation from Portland to a depot called North Oxford on the Paris side of the Oxford town line began. The first "train" to arrive at the current station location, 65 Main St, South Paris, ME 04281, 44°13'15.4"N 70°30'59.3"W was a contractors engine brought up on temporary rail to alleviate investors fears that the rails would never arrive.
